Born in Dundee, Scotland Steve has had a long and varied career in music.

His first band ‘Elegy’ were joint winners of the Scottish heat of the Melody Maker contest, and later finalists in the London contest held at the Round House in Chalk Farm, the final was broadcast live on Capitol Radio with original music by Steve and lyrics by Rab Adams.
In the early seventies he appeared at almost every American base in Germany with his own band, the original McDonalds Farm.
On returning to Scotland, he signed to the Corries own label ‘Pan Audio’ as part of the Sharon Taber show, a sensational female vocalist from Pittsburgh in the United States of America.
1980 he lived at ‘Ibiza sound studios ‘where he was requested to play guitar on a rock n roll album that Robert Plant had commissioned.
1982 along with his band ‘Ringer ‘he helped kick-start the now world famous ‘Beatles Conventions’ & fests, in 2008 he was inducted into the Liverpool ‘Beatles Week Hall of Fame” for 25 years outstanding contribution to the event and incredibly; was inducted a second time in 2017.
Along with two of Liverpool’s most famous sons, Billy Kinsley (The Merseybeat’s and Liverpool Express) and Chris Sharrock (The LA’s and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds), a remake of the Honeybus classic “I Can’t Let Maggie Go” was recorded leading to further collaborations in the studio with Billy providing lead vocals and Chris adding his unique percussive expertise bringing life to some original material that hadn’t been heard for over 40 years.
I feel very humble working with Billy and very honoured, next to John Lennon & Paul McCartney, he is my hero, a great singer songwriter and musician.
Steve was also a member of ex Moody Blues, Paul McCartney & Wings guitarists’ band; ’Denny Laine’ for a number of years and as recently as 2007 played two sell-out shows at the Cavern Club in Liverpool with him.
Denny was an extremely gifted singer / songwriter and musician who, throughout his career created a legacy of musical influence that will live on.
